Necktie Napkins (& What to Feed Dad!)

Neck Tie Napkin Tutorial - perfect for Father's Day!

Take your Father’s Day table setting to the next level with these adorable necktie napkins!   They are a breeze to create and make such a sweet addition to the table!

Setting the table is seriously one of my favourite things to do, and I love getting the kids involved!  We’ve been a bit obsessed with fun napkin ideas lately, like these pretty bow napkins or these adorable bunny ear napkins that I’m still swooning over!  But of course we wanted to do something a bit more masculine for Father’s Day… like these necktie napkins!

Now, if you’re looking for some recipe ideas to make your Father’s Day dinner complete check out our Father’s Day Fraiche Table for the entire menu (with a cute gingham plaid printable menu) – it includes my dad’s favourite Cedar Plank Salmon Burgers along with my Creamy Potato Dill Salad (and a few other recipes) that is so so good!

If brunch is more your dad’s (or hubby’s) jam, try these fluffy buttermilk pancakes, this vegan version that is so so good (also handy if you simply happen to not have eggs in the house), these make-ahead Breakfast Frittata Wraps (great if dad is flying out the door for golf… like Charles is planning on doing!) or these Apple Honey Whole Wheat Cinnamon Buns if you’re feeling extra energetic.

Ok, so back to these napkins.  Here is the step-by-step tutorial complete with pictures below!

To Make the Necktie Napkins:

  1. Begin by folding your napkin in half from corner to corner to make a triangle.
  2. Begin folding at the pointed end, fold the napkins accordion style in one and a half inch sections.
  3. With the folded side up (the folds will be visible, see the picture below), fold right half of napkin over centre at 45 degree angle.
  4. Fold left side over right side at a 90 degree from previously folded side and tuck through the centre of the napkin and pull tight.
  5. Tuck the end of the shorter side of the napkin back through the hole it came through until you can’t see from the front of the napkin.
  6. Adjust as needed and place on your dinner table (I like to place them on top of each plate).
