Raspberry Rainbow Smoothie Bowl

Raspberry Rainbow Smoothie Bowl

I have the BIGGEST crush on smoothie bowls right now! I love smoothies, but there is something about eating breakfast (versus drinking it) that is so much more satisfying. I confess, I just got on this smoothie bowl train.  I didn’t really understand the obsession… until I tried it.  Now my head is bursting with smoothie bowl ideas and I wake up craving them!

I had already stocked up on all the goodies at Nature’s Fare Markets [1] (love their produce and they have the best selection of healthy toppings), so throwing this together was easy peasy.  Nature’s Fare [1]also carries the Genuine Health products such as the Omega-3 +Vitamin D [2] and the Fermented Protein Powders [3] (on sale now, you can buy it online through that link) that I recommend.  You could easily add a scoop of protein powder to the smoothie to give it a boost!

As a dietitian I often make reference to ‘eating a rainbow’, which is essentially eating as many colorful fruits and vegetables as possible. Mission accomplished here. This smoothie bowl tastes like delicious frozen yogurt, and can be topped with any ingredients your heart desires: there are some ideas below to get you started.   A good blender is a must for making a smoothie bowl with no lumps.  My husband (ahem, I mean Santa), bought me a Vitamix 750 [4] for Christmas and it is a dream, we use it EVERY morning!

Ingredients:

*You can use fresh raspberries and banana, just cut your milk and juice in half.

**Use vanilla yogurt if you like it a bit sweeter.

Directions:

  1. Blend together the frozen raspberries, frozen banana, yogurt, milk and juice until smooth. It will be quite thick.
  2. Top with the remaining sliced fruit and any additional toppings you wish (see below) and enjoy immediately!

Additional Toppings (optional):
