I’ve been meaning to write this post for ages! I’ve always tried to keep my makeup looking as natural as possible and have gone through a gazillion products in order to find my favs. Grab a cup of coffee, here are the products I have and how I use them!
1. Lay the Foundation.
I start with a good moisturizer with SPF and have been using the Josie Maran SPF 47 Moisturizer [1] for a couple of years now. Turning 40 really had me paying more attention to protecting my face though I wish that I had been more diligent in my 20’s and 30’s! The primer comes next when I remember (just being honest, but they do make a difference), Smashbox makes an amazing one! I apply my foundation next using this brush; I use the Makeup Up Forever Ultra HD [2] (my shade is Y255) and follow it up with this Cover FX concealer [3] (N40 is the shade I use) around my eyes and on any blemishes, blending them in with the same brush or my fingers. I will often add the Benefit Boing brightening concealer [4] at the corners of my eyes and sometimes under them too. I always use a finishing powder like this one [5] so that my skin isn’t shiny.

2. Add Some Colour.
I try to get as little sun exposure on my skin as I can which means that I’m a bit pasty! I love the NARS Laguna bronzer [6] applied with this brush just below my cheek bones and a really light brush of it on the rest of my face to even out my tone and finish with a light brush of blush on the apples of my cheeks (NARS Orgasm [7] is my go-to in the summer time).

3. Tackle (Crazy) Eyebrows.
My eyebrows are a legitimate mess to be honest. One grows straight up and they are a bit wild on their own! I have nightmares about being stranded on an island with no tweezers…but then again nobody would be there to see me so… I digress. I use the Anastasia Brow Wiz [8] in dark brown and often combine it with the Anastasia Medium Brown Dipbrow [9] with an angled brush.
4. Apply Eyeshadow.
I don’t usually wear eyeshadow but if I am I go for a light tone to cover my entire eyelid followed by a medium brown in the outside crease of my eyelid, starting darker at the outside and fading to light around the middle of my eye. This Naked pallet [10] has all the right shades.
5. Finish with Eyeliner and Mascara.
I always use these two and my look varies depending on the time of day. I use the Kat Von D Tatoo Liner in Mad Max Brown [11] during the day and at night or when I want more drama, either the same brand in Trooper Black OR will use the Sephora brand black eyeliner [12] below, I start at the corner of my eye with the tip and slowly run it along my eyelid, drawing a thicker line starting at the top of my eyelid at centre and finish at the outside of my eyelid with a bit of a cat-eye look (very understated). The Sephora one is awesome if you want a darker eyelid, you have tons of control and it lasts FOREVER! I have tried a ton of different mascaras and to-date my favourite is the Benefit They’re Real [13].

6. Add a Touch of Colour to the Lips (and a Spritz of my the ONLY Perfume I Wear)!
I like nude or light shades of pink for my lips, the bareMinerals in XO [14] is my new crush! As for perfume, I don’t usually like perfumes as they are typically way too strong but this Fresh SUGAR one in Lychee [15] is the exception, it’s the ONLY one I use, I simply LOVE it! When I need to take it all off I really like the Josie Maran Argan Oil Cleanser [16] and a spray of the Fresh Rose Floral Toner [17] below (that stuff is amazing!).
